I have directed programs to educate judges of federal and state courts in science since 1996. During that time, the National Courts and Sciences Institute has scheduled a dozen seminars, workshops and conferences at the Friday Center.
The Friday Center quickly became a favorite venue. However, in the last several years, it has become a prized venue for educating judges. We have partnered with the Department of Genetics, the Bryson Center and the School of Medicine on many occasions. Our plans call for future conferences jointly conducted with the UNC RENCI Institute and with the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences.
We have found that judges favor the Friday Center. They appreciated its light and cheery deliberative spaces, its welcoming personnel, and its rare combination of public and private deliberative spaces.
Our experience with the Friday Center’s program managers has been excellent. We know that the multiple factors contributing to a successful advanced education are well anticipated by the Center’s program team. Having an anchoring program manager available, supportive, and rapidly responding is crucial when trying to blend the judicial and scientific cultures. The Friday Center is our first priority in the design, conduct and plans for advanced professional education.

The William and Ida Friday Conference Center is a wonderful venue to host an event. The conference center is easily accessible and a prime location not only for Chapel Hill, but the Raleigh-Durham area as well. I have worked closely with the exceptional staff for 25 years, and each year the service gets better and better. Conference and event managers, technical staff and caterers are very attentive to your needs and will make sure your meetings/events run smoothly. This venue is my #1 preference when planning Cancer Center events.
